Listen to Sinfonia fromCantata 29
This arrangement is actually two arrangements in one. You get one arrangement for six marimbas and timpani, and another more challenging arrangement for four marimbas and timpani.
Each has a two mallet solo part - essentially the first movement of J. S. Bach's Sixth Violin Partita, which Bach himself transposed to D Major, added strings, winds, brass, and timpani and created the Sinfonia for Cantata 29. Popularized in the 1970's on the album, "Switched On Bach" by Walter Carlos (or was it Wendy?) this is an endurring work!
Most of the marimba parts can be substituted with other mallet instruments for added color.
