jjm Publications
Joseph McIntyre founded jjm Publications in 2013 with the goal of providing a high caliber of accessible music to young players. Right now, we are featuring music and method books written exclusively by Joe McIntyre, with the hope of adding new composers in the near future. Mr. McIntyre is a professional percussionist, composer, and music educator residing in the Washington DC area. A graduate of the University of Maryland, he holds degrees in both music performance, and music education. He has played percussion and timpani with the National Symphony Orchestra, Kennedy Center Opera Orchestra, Richmond Symphony, National Philharmonic, Washington Concert Opera, and National Gallery Orchestra, with many of the world’s leading conductors including Leonard Bernstein, Mstislav Rostropovich, Rafael Fruhbeck de Burgos, Lorin Maazel, Leonard Slatkin, and Christoph Eschenbach. He was principal timpanist with the Maryland Symphony Orchestra for over 30 years and is currently principal percussionist with the Alexandria (VA) Symphony Orchestra. His compositions, ranging from orchestral and choral works to chamber pieces and film scores, have been performed throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. McIntyre's "Missa Brevis" was performed at Carnegie Hall, under the direction of Jonathan Willcocks in 1989. Many of his works for orchestra are published by TRN music. He has most recently composed the soundtrack for the film "Pictures from a Hiroshima Schoolyard."
